Mfon Ekong Usoro (Mrs) is the Managing Partner of a leading law firm and a distinguished member of Nigeria’s prestigious Body of Benchers, renowned for her significant legal expertise. Her maritime credentials are exceptional, highlighted by her service as the first female Secretary-General of the Abuja MoU and as the pioneer Director-General of NIMASA, where she established the Maritime Guard Force, a key component of Nigeria’s maritime security framework.

She has chaired several high-level committees, including the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Nigeria’s National Transport Policy, and has provided consultancy services to major international organizations such as UNEP, the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the African Union Commission.

Mrs Usoro holds advanced degrees in Maritime Law and possesses strong expertise in legislative drafting. She has contributed to the development of critical maritime and environmental laws in Nigeria, strengthening the nation’s regulatory and policy landscape.

Her extensive boardroom experience includes serving as a director in major financial institutions and contributing to the formulation of strategic maritime and transport policies. This breadth of experience underscores her strong capacity to contribute effectively to the governance and strategic direction of the Institute.
